Professional Profile - Andy Chan

Andy is an UK trained, broadly skilled People Development professional who has experiences in Self Employment and Organizational Consultancy with industries including Manufacturing, Call Centre, IT Software, Telecommunications, Pharmaceutical, Bio-Technologies and Financial sectors.  Currently based in Singapore as an independent consultant, he also operates as an associate consultant with a number of leading edge consultancy firms.

In his travels, his clients have included Astrazeneca, JP Morgan, WL Gore,  Motorola, Thus Telecommunications, Bharti India, Applied Biosystems, Lenovo, Microsoft and Cisco.  The projects provided for these clients were essentially Leadership Development, Influencing Skills Training, Leadership Coaching, Team Development events, Self Awareness enhancement, Communication Events Design and Facilitation.  In principal, it is about People Relationships in the Organizational context.

Starting off as an HR Generalist in the Manufacturing industry has provided valuable experiences in Change Management as the core leadership and the entire approach to the production process were overhauled following a takeover.  In realising his passion for people development, Andy quickly and definitively began focussing in on HR Development, and took on a national leadership role in this function with another manufacturing firm.

His exposure to career consulting came when he was asked to be responsible for the outplacement exercise for over 250 personnel from all levels and functions, following a plant shut down situation.  As this was during the recession years in the early 90’s, his skills in this area were being continually honed.

On the Leadership Development aspect, Andy has had substantial opportunities in designing organization development events, and has done so with demonstrable success.  Such events have included the organizational rollout of a brand new Performance Management system, process and philosophy; the setting up of an Employee Council, a comprehensive in-house Management Development program and the establishment of a Mentoring program.  While operating as an independent consultant, he has also been involved in the design and facilitation of globally rolled out leadership and personal effectiveness skills programs.

Andy has a Master Degree in Personnel Management from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, is qualified to Level B with the British Psychological Society, which enables him to administer personality profiling instruments.  He is also a Certified Hypnotherapist with the National Guild of Hypnotists (US). His considerable familiarity with the Western culture coupled with his Asian root has been serving him well in being culturally adept.

His authentic approach to his work comes from his genuine passion and belief in uncovering and allowing one’s potential to develop.  His particular strength is in challenging habitual thoughts and providing alternative perspectives, thereby evoking new thoughts and mental maps in people’s minds.   top...
