Course Overview

Influencing here means making something happen through interacting with someone else that wouldn’t otherwise have happened.  As with many other instances, we all have our preferred style of influencing; it does not, however, mean that we are necessarily skilful at our chosen favourite!

This program looks at some basic concepts in influencing effectively, explains the different observable styles, helps participants identify their preferred approach and hone their strength as well as develop their lesser preferences.  This way, by having a wider range of tools to choose from, they can become more effective in more circumstances with more people.

Influencing as a Platform for Personal & Leadership Development

During the course, there are many opportunities for participants to deepen their self awareness as they discover how their manifested behaviours impact on their environment, and this is achieved through almost constant peer feedback, a skill participants will acquire early on in the course.

Many of the behavioural skills included in the course are the day to day tools used in the work environment as well as outside of it:  reasoning skills, deep listening, relationship building, assertiveness and more.

In addition, since effective influencing also involves paying attention to body language, participants will learn how to enhance their personal presence and charisma, an attribute that is very helpful for executives and leaders.
